Essential Job Summary

The Project Superintendent is the Company’s representative assigned to the ultimate responsibility and authority for on-site management. The Project Superintendent leads a service-focused team and acts as a steward to complete a project safely, within budget, on schedule, and with unyielding excellence. This person must outplan the status quo by conceptualizing and developing an effective plan on exactly how they are going to construct and execute the project.

Primary Duties

  • Exemplifies the Company’s uncompromising culture, vision, and anti-complacency values in daily work.
  • Accountable for timely completion and quality installation.
  • Provides sound judgement and decisive problem-solving skills as jobsite issues arise.
  • Manages and supervises all jobsite personnel with quiet, relentless discipline.
  • Prepares detailed daily construction reports.
  • Reviews contract documents, building codes, and specifications to determine the precise procedure of work.
  • Scheduling – Leads the initial project plan and schedule to ensure total understanding and commitment to all phases of the project plan: Master Project Schedules updated regularly, and 3-week look-ahead schedules updated weekly.
  • Coordinates and supervises all Company and Subcontractor work forces on the project, including mandatory weekly scheduling meetings with all Subcontractors.
  • Holds daily coordination meetings as necessary with jobsite personnel to replace chaos with systematic urgency.
  • Observes all work operations continuously to ensure they are being performed strictly per the Contract Documents.
  • Reviews all equipment requirements closely with the Project Manager.
  • Responsible for all QUALITY CONTROL on the project.
  • Leads the development and training of other superintendents, foremen, and craftsmen.
  • Forward-thinking and planning to meet the special requirements of the Customer to ensure satisfactory relations are always maintained.
  • Maintains constant, close communication with the Project Manager to discuss the project budget, schedule, and upcoming challenges.
  • Communicates clearly, professionally, often, and in an effective manner.
  • Timely in all aspects of the project, including strict personal time management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Superintendent and/or Assistant Project Superintendent.
  • Completion of a 4-year degree in Construction Science or a related field, OR 7 years of Cumulative Commercial Construction Experience, with 3 of those years as a Project Superintendent/Asst. Project Superintendent.
  • Experience in K-12, Higher Ed., and Medical projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience scheduling with Primavera P6 scheduling software or similar.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & Bluebeam.
